Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director and the Laboratory Manager, the Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples using venipuncture or skin techniques and obtaining other specimens for ordered diagnostic studies. Also responsible for performing assigned waived testing, charting and faxing all types of patient reports.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma/GED education will be considered.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years in a clinical laboratory.
PREFERRED: LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Phlebotomy certification.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge and skills to perform venipunctures, specimen processing and communication with customers.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This department is staffed to provide coverage 24 hours/day, 7 days/week including weekends and holidays. Generally scheduled 8-12 hour shifts. Schedules and work shifts may be changed in respect to patient procedure demands and hospital census. During low census or low procedure volumes, staff may be required to float to other OakBend locations where deemed competent, flex hours, or rotate days off without pay.
