The Registered Nurse provides direction to professional and non-professional clinical personnel in providing direct patient care. The Registered Nurse provides high quality, skilled nursing services assisting all patients to achieve optimum health and functional health status following hospitalization. Through collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals, the nurse prepares the patient and family for continued perinatal care.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
One year of previous Labor & Delivery clinical experience preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
American Heart Association BLS required.
NRP required within 6 months of hire.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Interpersonal and critical thinking skills required. Excellent communication and team work skills. Basic clinical, computer & typing skills.
WORK SCHEDULE
This unit/department is staffed to provide coverage 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. It requires working weekends and holidays. Generally scheduled 12 hour shifts day or night rotations. Schedules and work shifts may be changed in respect to patient procedure demands and hospital census. During low census or low procedure volumes, staff may be required to float to other nursing units where deemed competent, flex hours or rotate days off without pay.
