Under the direction of the Clinical Director of Med/Surg, the Education Coordinator provides continuing education support for nursing and allied health professionals. The Education Coordinator develops, implements and coordinates educational programs for all levels of hospital staff; supervises the activities of the Education Department staff; provides initial and ongoing orientation and training to Nursing Services staff; and assists with hospital competency assessment and performance improvement activities.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years clinical experience preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Current licensure in Texas as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse. BLS, ACLS and PALS Instructor certification through the American Heart Association preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of adult learning theory and strategies. Well-develop oral, written, organizational and interpersonal skills. Experienced computer skills. Experience developing online education programs preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, additional hours including weeknights, weekends or holidays may be required due to increase in workload, assignment, special education course offerings, or completion of special projects. Must be flexible if required to work long or irregular hours.
