Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director/Manager of Perioperative Services, the Clinical Coordinator, RN provides care of patients within the PACU and ASU Departments. This position assumes clinical responsibility for the specialty by providing teaching, clinical supervision and evaluation of other personnel assigned to the area. This position is also responsible for duties outlined in the staff registered nurse job description: professional nursing care and related assistance to patients, providing direction to licensed vocational nurses and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION

 

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

 

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Two years recent clinical experience, preferably on the unit, which the Registered Nurse takes Clinical Coordinator responsibilities.

 

RECQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

 

Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. Certified through the American Heart Association BLS.  ACLS, PALS or ENPC required within 6 months of hire. Registered Nurse Certification in at least one specialty required.  Example: highly preferred: ie., ARON , CNOR, SGNA, or ASPAN. Valid Drivers’ license and reliable transportation necessary as travel between campuses may be required.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

 

Demonstrated proficiency in PACU/ASU required. Prior Clinical Coordinator experience preferred.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

 

Normally scheduled Monday through Friday.  Will be required to take calls on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.  Work hours may fluctuate to accommodate the operating room schedule.  Must be flexible if required to work long or irregular hours.  During low census/patient procedures may be required to leave early or rotate days off.
