Responsibilities

A nurse resident is an entry level professional nurse who will demonstrate the ability to continuously progress professionally and clinically in a patient care setting. The nurse resident will rotate though specified hospital units as determined by CNO and the AVP during the course of the residency (9-12 week period) and receive coaching from the education team as well as the unit preceptors. The nurse resident will be responsible for providing the highest level of patient care and customer service. The nurse resident, in collaboration with their Nurse Preceptor will provide direct patient care and will participate in all unit initiatives

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATON:

 

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

 

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

 

Previous clinical experience preferred,

 

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

 

Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.

Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required.

 

PREFRRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 

Interpersonal and critical thinking skills required. Excellent communication and team work skills. Basic clinical, computer & typing skills.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

 

Includes working rotational shift, holidays, and weekends as needed. May be required to participate in “on call” basis staffing. Schedules and work shifts may be changed in respect to patient procedure demands and hospital census. During low census or low procedure volumes, staff may be required to rotate days off without pay.
